Very dirty / old carpet adhesive

Asked by Phil Smith from Swindon: |
We have recently removed an old carpet from our hallway. Underneath this was another very old dirty thin carpet that had been glued directly to the tiles. I'm not sure, but the adhesive it very stubborn to remove and may be some sort of epoxy resin. What do you recommend to:-
1.)Remove the adhesive
2.)Clean dirt from tiles
3.)some kind of hard wearing gloss / laquer layer.

You can use Tile Doctor Remove and Go mixed 50/50 with Nano-clean and then leave it in place for at least an hour, then scrub off the excess with a brush and some warm water, if there is any stubborn Vinyl Glue left after this, then I would use a wall paper steamer, the combination of all these products on the Tiles will get rid of the problem for you.
To clean the Tiles get a good deck brush and use some Pro-clean mixed 1 to 5 with warm water and scrub this in. Rinse with water, leave to dry a day or so and then apply 4 coats of Seal and Go.
