we laid a moroccan tiled gargen -mixture of terracotta and glazed tiles and were told to seal with a solution before laying which would guarantee they would be fine for the UK weather (we bought them over here in the UK). in the 3 years since we laid them we have had snow and everyone says that if they have been sealed that they should be fine. should i reseal them again and what would you recommend. also, the blue tiles are fading... what can i put on them to make them vibrant again and can i use this before or after sealant. everyone recommends some sort of stain proofing which also seals them but i have done that twice and am not sure it is the best produce. |

Thanks for the e-mail, however I feel you have been given bad info about Terra-cotta Tiles, we would never recommend these Type of Tiles for an outside environment. The Sealers cant cope with our weather and these tiles are just like the clay Terracotta pots you can buy from the garden centres and if you have had any of these you will realise they don't like frost as they will crumble and break when exposed to this extreme for to long, at The Garden Centres they will tell you to raise the pots on some Clay feet and thus stooping and accumulation of frozen water getting into the pots.
With Terracotta tiles especially the Mexican Variety you simply just don't have this option and the cold weather gets through the sealer and then cracks them apart.
So sorry I cant give you good news on this, but you really are wasting your time trying to remedy the problem with sealers.
