Limescale film

Asked by Lee from Buckinghamshire: Hi we have light blue and white ceramic tiles and live in an area with very hard water. Though we have a water softner the tiles seem to have a sort of limescale water stain on the surface where they are wet constantly. I have tried limelite and other cleaners including vinegar but its still there. Thought about using hydrochloric acid but we have a enamel bath too and did not want to damage that. The glass shower screen also has the same mottled limescale water stain. Can you recommend anything?

TileProf says: Hi Lee, Thanks for the e-mail, have only heard of this happening on French Hand made Tiles, which had a crackled glazing to them, this should have been sealed first with possibly a Grout sealer, we have one called Grout seal and Go, once the stains get into the glaze though, its almost always impossible to get it out again.
