ceramic matte tile in kitchen

Asked by SG from BC, Canada: The tile is ceramic but has the look of slate (medium gray). It seems to be quite porous. Any drop of water or oil is very obvious and dark. I am worried about the oils that will get splattered on the floor in front of the stove. I don't want permanent oil stains on my floor! I know that ceramic tiles don't usually need a sealer but this tile has a very matte finish - is there some type of sealer I can use that will just make it slightly darker so those oil stains don't show up? Or something that will prevent those oil stains?

TileProf says: Hi SG, Best to try an Impregnating sealer, polish off any excess with in 5 minutes though otherwise it may go a bit sticky,we are based in the U.K so cant help you with our products. Regards Russell at Tile Doctor
