Hi Mrs Cairns,
This is quite common with Travertine, as Travertine is not a good quality Marble, so when Holes apear fill these with a flexible flor grout, such as Mapei Ultra-colour, if you dont the hole will get bigger and bigger, same with the cracks fill these with the same grout, but make sure it is a flexible floor grout.
