Removal of tile adhesive on top of old tiles

Asked by Simon Powell from Cardiff: I have a victorian tiles hallway under 10mm thick tiles that have a hard black tile adhesive holding them on. Is there a chemical treatment available that will eat this adhesive off without damaging the underlying tiles.?

TileProf says: Hi Simon, 10MM Is to thick for any Breakdown sealer can work on, the only answer for this is to have them sand blasted clean, it wont be cheap but it will work. Regards Russell at Tile Doctor
