Permanent white streaks on ceramic tiles
Asked by Andy R from Suffolk:
Hi, Hope you can advise! We had our bathroom tiled last year with smooth matt finish ceramic tiles with a light brown stone effect pattern. Recently we've noticed some of the lower ones around the bath have vertical whitish streaks appearing. We originally thought these might be limescale type marks but after closer inspection and lots of scrubbing and cleaning, they appear to be permanent, as if the colour has been washed away! Is this possible with ceramic tiles? Could it be the cleaner we've been using (Cillit Bang), however the labelling does state OK for use on Ceramic tiles? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Andy, Doesnt sound good, you need to check where you got these Tiles from they should either have BS Kite mark on them or a European EC mark, check with your retailer if your not sure, Cillit bang wont help though, I would use a PH Cleaner such as Aqua-pro Regards Russell at Tile Doctor http://www.tiledoctor.co.uk/Aqua-Pro-Tile-Cleaner.asp
