mottling on tiles in church
|

Asked by Jan Ashton-Jones from Mordiford,Hereford, UK: |
We have Victorian tiles in the chancel and the nave of our village church The tiles in the nave are fine but the ones in the chancel are mottled. When washed they look OK but when they have dried the mottling shows.
I have a photo of the problem. How do we cure the problem? |

Hi Jan
Sounds like a damp proble, the eonly cure for this is to take up the Tiles, knock up the old screeded concrete, remove a lot the hardcore and then relay with a damp proof membrane the reconcrete, you will need a builder for this though.
