Mold staining in shower limestone floor
|
|
Asked by Ian Harrison from Exeter: |
We laid a limestone mosaic floor in a bespoke shower space in our guest suite about 2 years ago.
Unfortunately, the most recent user of the suite has allowed mold to take hold on the floor. The user is away now for ten days and my wife and I wish to eradicate the mold, remove staining and then reseal the floor to minimise the re occurance of the problem.
Two questions: Do you have a produce we can use to reseal the tiles once the mold has been removed. What do we use to remove the staining?
Any help would be much appreciated. |

Hi Ian,
Sorry to be the bearer of Bad news but Limestone is a big no-no on a shower room floor, its a soft acid sensitive stone and the only cure for mould deposits is to grind them out, which is not an east job, mould once it has a hold of the stone is impossible to get out using just chemicals, you may be able to lighten it but the spores will still grouw back and it will go dark again even with a sealer on.
Sorry I cant give you good news on this one but Limestone is no good in very wet areas like showers and wet rooms.
