Limescale on quarry tiles

Asked by Diane Fathers from Lincolnshire: Hi We have quarry tiles in a shower room and the tiles have limescale stains as we are in an area with very hard water. The tiles were like this when we moved into the house. Unfortunately we don't know if the tiles were sealed or not when they were laid. They don't have a polished finish so maybe they aren't? Or would they have had to be sealed in this application? Any advice on how to clean the limescale off would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

TileProf says: Hi Diane, Best to try an Acid such as Grout clean up, follow the instructions on the back of the bottle for best results, wear some Marigolds and rinse with water after using it. Regards Russell at Tile Doctor http://www.tiledoctor.co.uk/AcidCleaner.html
