Discoloured tiles and cleaning.

Asked by Adam from Leeds: Hi, I have some Victorian tiles in my hallway which reading your info will probably need the 50/50 mix of the Pro-Clean & Nano Tech products. However quite a few of the white tiles are now looking almost dark grey and very porous. I would like to get these back to as white as possible. Which would be better the Seal & Go solution or the Colour Grow? I would like the same finish as the images at the top of the Victorian tile page, which ever sheen this is? Thanks

TileProf says: Hi Adam, The White clay is very porous as is the Beige clay Victorain floor Tiles his is due to the soft nature and components of these Tile colours, other colours have harder Minerals to them and are easier to clean. To answer your question I would pour Nano-tech neat onto the discoloured Tiles and then leave them like that for a good hour, then go in with Pro-clean mixed 10 to 1 with warm water and give them a good scrub, rinse and use a wet vac to suck up the solution, rinse and vac again just to be sure all of the cleaning agent is out of the Tiles and then leave to dry for a few days before you apply 4 or 5 coats of Seal and Go. This is the system a Tile Doctor would use to brighten the colours and clean the Tiles but bear in mind a Victorain Floor Tile is by its nature an Antique Tile and may or may not improve from this technique, but generally we find this makes a big improvemnet to the loom of the Tiles.
